Tropical Ocean Adventure Photo Session - O'ahu, Hawai'i

When couples are down to get in the ocean, I am ALL ABOUT IT. Embracing the warm water during your photoshoot is probably one of the most fun and adventurous types of sessions ever.

This tropical ocean adventure session was so freaking dreamy and I loved every second of it!!

Julia + Austin are incredible human beings!! We connected through social media when they moved to O’ahu and I was instantly drawn to their free-spirited, water-loving personalities. For our photo session, we spent the morning exploring and running around the soft sand, splashing in the warm ocean waters of Hawai’i.

Sounds pretty perfect if you ask me.

A big part of being a Wedding Photographer in Hawai’i includes embracing the natural elements of the islands and incorporating them into every single one of my sessions. Hawai’i’s natural beauty makes coming to the island so unique compared to any other place you will visit. There’s a good chance you will get REALLY sandy, get a little salty, and sun-kissed by the warm sun.

One of my favorite parts about photographing couples at the beach (AND in the ocean) is the ability to capture their carefree essence - there’s just something about those warm beach vibes that brings out everyone’s relaxed + chill personalities. And it’s a MAJOR plus if I can convince you to jump in the water. Trust me, you won’t regret it!

Here are a few tips to prepare for your salty + sandy beach session!

  • Wear a bathing suit or have your photoshoot outfits include clothing that you don’t mind getting wet! That way you don’t have to stress about protecting your clothes. (You’re gonna want to jump in, don’t question it.)

  • ALWAYS bring an extra set of clothes and a towel! You are bound to get at least a little wet and sandy, so this will help you feel comfortable during your drive home.

  • Come with extra bottled water!! Photoshoots are low-key (high-key) a workout, so bring H2O to stay hydrated.

  • Don’t forget to put on some *reef-safe* sunscreen!! It’s easy to forget about the sun when you’re having fun, so throw on a little SPF on your way out the door so you don’t have to worry about it! Reef-safe sunscreens not only protect your skin, but also help protect our precious oceans and marine life from harmful chemicals.

I hope this helps!! Sounds like something that you’re into? Send me a message and let’s start planning your dream photoshoot!
